On July 7th, beauty leaders, influencers, and icons gathered high above Hollywood at Lemon Grove Restaurant atop The Aster Hotel for one of the most anticipated events of the year—The 2025 Gurus Beauty Awards, presented by Gurus Magazine. Set against a dreamy, Amalfi Coast-inspired backdrop of lemon trees, breezy linens, and golden sunlight, the awards honored the brands, products, and pioneers shaping the next era of beauty.

With Derek Warburton, founder and publisher of Gurus Magazine, at the helm and executive production led by Rachel Wilson, this year’s event blended intention with luxury, offering a rare combination of authentic connection and high-wattage glamour.

From product developers to celebrity entrepreneurs, the attendees represented a cross-section of the industry’s most influential figures. Among the star-studded guest list were Emmy-winner Patricia Heaton, six-time Emmy nominee Debbie Matenopoulos, Sutton Stracke and Crystal Kung Minkoff (RHOBH), Cynthia Bailey (RHOA), Nicole Young (Netflix’s Selling Sunset), Gleb Savchenko (DWTS), Carly Hughes (American Housewife), Kearran Giovanni (Major Crimes), Tallia Storm (Recording Artist), Martín Rodriguez (Netflix’s Griselda), Tricia Connor Jackson (Actress), Jy Prishkulnik (Actress), Miia Harris (Monster High), Diamond White (The Lion Guard), Madison Brodsky (Actress), Marcel Vigneron (24 in 24: Last Chef Standing), and even Princess Sarah Jane Culbertson of Sierra Leone, alongside rising talents and brand founders, all celebrating the heartbeat of modern beauty: innovation with purpose.

Guests explored curated experiences like red-light therapy demos by Lumara Systems, Mediterranean dolci from Luxe Bites, The Blonde Italian shared her aromatic spices straight from Nonna’s pantry, The Dolce Cart served cold custom ice treats, custom portraits by Josh Fogel, personalized bouquets by VFlowers, and jewelry styling at the Suzy Levian bar. Violinist Maury Cruz creates a sensorial escape straight from the Mediterranean.

In a flourish of creativity, artist Joey DeRuy painted a live mural of the Sorrento coastline, while Moon d’Elle’s bocce courts offered playful downtime, all within an atmosphere subtly scented by over 1,000 citrus fruits from Ayala Farms.

As the sun began to set, Derek Warburton shared a touching behind-the-scenes moment: every décor element had been sourced from vintage and thrift shops, nearly all marked “Made in Italy.” In a nod to sustainability and sentiment, guests were encouraged to take a piece of the setup home, transforming the décor into keepsakes.
